A New Video?? A-wuhhhhh????

Sup guys. I know there's really not a lot going on at RTCF headquarters these days, and I do apologize for this and thank you for your patience. Our next video was actually done about 2 weeks ago, but for some reason I failed to finish officially adding it to the web. I think I had some type of problem that was long-since fixed.

Any, Catt, the voice of Tails, has created yet another Sims 2 music video masterpiece, this time to Aly and AJ's hit "Potential Breakup Song". (At least, I assume it's a hit... I don't listen to their music). The two usual streaming flavors are on their way to the net now, with high- and low-resolution Windows Media downloads soon follow. I am moving up to .mp4 files for the Theater, so you may need to update your Flash player before you can watch anything. I do believe the Theater has an automatic updater if you don't have the correct version, and updating takes only a few seconds.

The reason its screenshot is missing from the archive list is because I've yet to install my image editing program on my new laptop. It'll be there eventually, it's just not something I wanted to deal with right now.

It looks like the high-res Windows Media version will be the first online, in about 7 minutes, so check that out. In a couple hours, all versions will be up and ready to go.

New The Sonic Tales coming soon!

Just as an Update...

We're about 50% done with the next installment of The Sonic Tales - the only thing stalling production right now is our busy lives. The rest of the work for the episode is left up to me, and I'm currently tied up with a big project I hope to have done for my dear friend that leaves the country in a few days. But not to worry - episode 5 will be finished soon enough!

Is There Such a Thing?

Unless we actually hundreds of GoogleBots visiting TST every month, the visiting numbers haven't gone anywhere for some time. If anything, they've gone up. So even though no one really posts comments or in the Forums, I can safely assume that people are still regularly seeing this page. As such, I felt a news post is in order.

Although it has been a couple months since the last news post, it certainly hasn't been a couple months since we've worked on The Sonic Tales. We're hard at work producing new episodes of The Sonic Tales, even if we're not here to say we are.

Two of our cast members are going on vacation in a couple of weeks, so let's just say that my goal is to have a new video out before they leave.

I Need To Work On My Titles

Hello everyone! Quick update from RTCF headquarters here. Since I was doing some maintenance on the video player over at Kill Faz, I took the liberty of coming here and doing the same work. Here's a quick run-down of what I did (very small stuff):

- Finally fixed the footer (I can't believe I went a whole year without changing the copyright year - then again, I can't believe it's been over a year since the last episode...)
- Upgraded to the latest version of the Flash movie player (basically there's now a stop button, and full-screen mode doesn't open in a new window)
- Added a little bookmark link thing to the top of the Videos page, although it's less significant here since you can probably see all the videos without scrolling...

And that's pretty much it. But I figured I couldn't post an update with such insignificant changes! To out-do myself, I continued with what I was doing before and I posted newly-encoded versions of Episode 2! Enhance your TST downloaded video collection with either a Quicktime or Windows Media high-resolution (or low if you'd prefer) video! I removed the old links to the ones on FileFront and posted new downloadable versions hosted right here on our server. I highly suggest the Windows Media HiRes one, because it's actually just a direct copy of the archive version (VERY high quality).

So that's about it for now. Hopefully it won't be too long until we get time to do Episode 5! Perhaps we'll go ahead and write the next few episodes, because that seems to get us more motivated to do an episode than when we haven't written it yet...

Well That Came Out of Nowhere

Even though Music Catt insists it's not that good of a video, I posted it anyway. The voice of Tails composed yet another wonderful Sims 2 music video... some time ago, and I just now got around to posting it. She's actually already working on a new one, so that's cool. But in the meantime, the one I just posted is called "Things I'll Never Say" and is based on the popular Avril Lavigne song. I already had all the versions encoded and uploaded, so I don't know why it hasn't been posted yet. You can watch it in high or low-resolution, depending on how fast your internet connection is, or you can download it in one of the four all-purpose convenient versions. I also posted it on YouTube for popularity sake, so I linked to that version as well, although I suggest just watching here in the wonderful RTC Fusion Theater.

In Sonic Tales news, we're all willing to do the next episode - the only problem is the able part. Both Music Catt and Bob are busy with school work, and I've been suffering with what can only be classified as pneumonia for the past two weeks. But don't worry - we'll get around to it eventually. We also have a wonderful holiday-themed episode scripted that we'd love to do.

So in the meantime, enjoy Caddie's wonderful use of the Sims 2, and look forward to re-posting of old episodes in high-resolution! I mean new episodes...

Just In Time!

I apologize for that little hiccup yesterday in server uptime. About a week ago, my paid month of server usage ran out, and due to the poor service at Psychz.net, I decided it was time for another server change. This time I found the awesome people at Webhostingpad.com and it looks like we're secured on the Internet for some time to come.

The hiccup, however, was caused by the way I have to do the server change. Originally, I had wanted to put up a "We're Moving!" sign on the old server while I entered the new DNS settings for TheSonicTales.com. Unfortunately (and somewhat luckily), my account got suspended quite literally the minute after I finished downloading all my settings and files from the old server. So, for about a day (depending on when the new DNS settings propagated to your ISP), TheSonicTales.com was plagued with the dreaded "Account Suspended" page. But I had already uploaded all the files and whatnot to the new server, so it was just a matter of time. (I actually had access to the website at school before I had access at home - stupid Time Warner.)

But anyway, everything is back to normal now. In content-releasing news, we're hard at work writing more Sonic Tales videos, and hope to get time to do them very soon. I also still have another of Music Catt's Sims 2 music videos here in the wings, waiting to be posted. I believe I also still need to re-release some of the Sonic Tales videos in high-resolution. I should have a little more time pretty soon, as my major project (that's taken about two months of my life) is basically done and only needs some finishing touches.

So I hope to see some new content soon! I'll catch y'allz laterzzz.

(Wow... that was totally lame...)

Yay They're Gone!

They were bothering me, so I went ahead and fixed those pesky question marks in the Main Navigation box. For you tech savvy people, for some reason my · code is converted to question marks, but for that box only (the same doesn't even happen on our sister site KillFaz.com, and they're made of the same code). But then I just go back and put my · back.

So anyway, I know pretty much nothing has been happening with TST, but don't fret! We're all still here, just waiting in the wings until we have time to produce another episode. It looks to be a great video though, so stick around! Keep in mind our Music Catt (Tails) created another Sims 2 music video that I'm yet to post, so stick around for that as well!

In the meantime, if you're of a more mature audience, you can check out our aforementioned sister site KillFaz.com, or if you have Half-Life 2, check out Get a Life, a Half-Life 2 modification that I'm doing some voice work for (and Music Catt might help out as well).

So I'll see you guys soon!

Again With the Question Marks

Well, the dreaded question marks in the "Main Navigation" box have yet again returned, probably because of the server move. I'm not quite sure why those show up, but I know how to fix them, so don't worry about that.

With TheSonicTales.com now fully moved onto the new server, the scene is set to release another video and basically organize the video archive. Later today, I'll be posting 6 versions of the newest video (unfortunately, not a Sonic Tales video) in my attempt to better accommodate all users. I'll have a Flash version viewable in the RTC Fusion theater, a Windows Media version available for download, and a Quicktime version available for download for you Mac users. And of course, all three will be available in high quality and low quality - the former for broadband and cable users, and the latter for slower users. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be releasing a streaming version compatible with dial-up users - if your connection really is that slow, you wouldn't want to stream anything anyway, because it would look like what Tails did to the lake. But you should still be able to download the low-quality versions with no problems. I'll try to average those file sizes at around 20 MB or less, which, by my calculations, would take around 45 minutes on a dial-up connection. I guess that sounds pretty bad, but if you're on dial-up, you really shouldn't be relying on the Internet for media entertainment anyway! Besides, maybe dial-up users would pay more for a DVD since it would be their only real means of seeing the series.... (dot dot dot)

Anywhosinheimer, in conclusion, new video tonight, updated archive by the weekend, and hopefully more Sonic Tales soon after. Peace all!

The Echidna of TRUTH

TheSonicTales.com is being shut down...

...

Haha, just kidding... It's not April 1, so I guess that joke kinda sucks..... BUT anyways...

TheSonicTales.com is being moved to a new server! For those of you that don't realize it, that's a good thing! This transfer will happen in a few days and might cause some downtime for both the site and the videos, so just hang in there. I promise that on Monday, the site transition will be completed, and there will be AT LEAST one new video in the archive!

So hang in there guys! More antics from Sonic and Tails are coming soon!

Is my watch right?

Well, I suppose an update with no new content is better than no update at all.

I'd like to start off by first saying that we're not dead in any way. We're just... not really doing anything right now. Both myself and Bob (Knuckles) have started college classes again, with Catherine (Tails) starting her last year at junior high, so I guess it can be expected for not a lot to happen here at RTCF. Catherine did make another Sims music video some time ago, but I seem to have lost it from the network server...

In other news, our website host is just now having problems with the whole media streaming/download thing we do at RTCF. So not only do we need to focus on getting new videos out, I also have to work this thing out beforehand, so we don't push our luck. I'm currently working on a small side-project, where I'm setting up my old computer as a server that we could actually use. That's completely experimental though, and it might take a while to figure out. The good news would be that, with my own server, we'd have a lot more freedom. But, if that doesn't work out, I'll probably move on to paid hosting. It'd be the first time I've paid for web hosting (minus the domain name fees of course), but hey - there's a first time for everything I suppose.

So hang in there with us! I promise we'll have more content and entertainment soon enough!

9/17 Addendum: I moved all versions of Episode 4 of TST to my other file server and fixed the link to the LoRes QT version of the commentary. Hopefully this won't really affect anything (except no more versions on FileFront).
